If you haven't read this book already (I just found out about it last week but apparently it's been around a while) you need to go buy/download it. It is a wonderful book. It is told by a 90 (or 93) year old man who is remembering his life working in a circus. It didn't sound like something I would enjoy but really did enjoy it immensely and recommend it highly. I think you will love it! Let me know!
What is it with elephants and me....
ReplyDeleteI posted a picture of elephants for Mother's day. The restaurant where I fell has a huge picture of an elephant in the bathroom and the name of the restaurant is "The Red Elephant" and now you tell us about this book called elephant!!!! I guess I have to check them out....
I loved this book too. I read an article in a writer's magazine about Sara Gruin's research and where all it took her and the people she met. Amazing. I'm reading Mudbound by Hillary Jordan and recently read 'Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet' by Jamie Ford. Both are really good. I'm in a book group at B&N and love it. I've found many books I wouldn't normally have read.
ReplyDeleteI read this book last year and it was great. I couldn't put it down. If you haven't been to goodreads.com yet it's a great site to add your favorite books and write reviews.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!

Hi Elena: I also really loved this book!!!did you know they are making a movie of it now???
ReplyDeleteDid you read The Art of Racing in the Rain too??
I also didn't think I'd like a book set in a circus, but...read it a couple of years ago on a recommendation and fell in love with it! Not at all what I thought it would be, which is always the best.

I happen to be reading this right now! My daughter gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the book, "Water for Elephants" also and was always telling people to read it. It was superb! I can relate to you that I also was 25 last week and more than double that now . . . how did that happen? Not sure how I came upon your blog, but happy I did. I like the way you think.
