Lynn's Round Robin Journal

I have to admit I find it difficult now to work with anything but fabric and lace! Lynn"s beautiful journal is next for me on the Kindred Souls Group. Her theme is Paris. This is where I started:

No clue what to do but I started thinking about what makes me think of Paris. Beautiful women in even more beautiful dresses.... Cobblestone streets..... Street lamps.... So I pulled a few things out...

I cut some card stock with Tim Holtz's cobblestone strip die. I had no idea what to do with it after I cut it so decided to use it as a stencil. Will it work?? I have no idea!

Pulled out this old fashioned street lamp, I have had this for a few years probably and wanted to use it now.

Finally, I pulled out Julie Nutting's fabulous stamp. This particular stamp reminds me of a playful woman I can see walking up the cobblestone streets of Paris!

This is what resulted by scrapbook paper and gesso? Yuch!! But I refuse to stop! I am on a mission here!
I had fun dressing up Julie's fashionista!
Distress acrylics over gesso. Not happy!
Used Wendy Vecchi's embossing paste over my cobblestone "stencil" and was surprised by how great it worked!
After putting some distress inks and paint on my street lamp, I wanted it to look like it had glass. I glued a piece of Mambly screen print behind each lantern and filled it in with glossy accents.

It's still wet here but should look really nice when its dry!

After coloring the cobblestones with rust colored archival ink and muting it a little with vintage photo distress ink, the cobblestones look great! I stamped some Parisian images on the background, added a doily and my fashionista with some pop dots after making her a hot blond! I also added a piece of lace. (I HAD to put SOME lace!)
Next I added one of the pins I made.

Ok, my fashionista looked a little boring so I fancied up her dress a little!

Ok!!!  The front page is done!!!  Hope Lynn likes it!  Tomorrow I will do the back page and send it on!

DANCING QUEEN!!!!

Kaitlynn was chosen as a member of her school's dance team today

GO PRINCESS!!!!!

HONESTLY, HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS CROSS YOUR MIND?????

LOVE IT!

The Scorpion and the Frog

I read this years ago and it has alway stuck with me.  I have done hundreds of divorces and I always hear the same thing - how awful my husband or wife is.  Really?  Well guess what?  They were awful when you married them, they were awful when you had children with them and they were awful when you were in bed cuddling with him/her.

People don't change.  So many women/men who come into my office thought they could "change" their spouse.  It just doesn't happen.  Even if they WANT to change, their core personalities are what they are.

The same thing applies to all relationships.  How many time have you said "well, she is not like that with ME".  If she is disloyal, mean or disrespectful to her other friends, it's only a matter of time before she does it to you.  You CAN and SHOULD judge a person's character by the way they treat other people.  I hate to bust your bubble but you are not that special.

Next time you think you can change someone remember a scorpion is always a scorpion.

                                    THE SCORPION AND THE FROG

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change.

So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.

The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river.

He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"

"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.

"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"

"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"

"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.

"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger.

The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river.

The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"

The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.

"I could not help myself. It is my nature."

Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Self destruction - "Its my Nature", said the Scorpion...

I THINK I AM GOING TO MAKE COPIES OF THIS TO GIVE ALL MY CLIENTS!!

Round Robin

One of the groups I belong to - Kindred Souls - has a round robin journal project circulating. I have Sox's journal. How beautiful is this cover?????

Sox's character is a woman traveling the world in the late 1800s, after traveling through Europe I thought she would enjoy a trip to the Caribbean to the island of Cuba.
