De Coporis Humanis

What a great class with Ingrid today!!! Very different than what I usually do but it was so much fun to do!

It took EIGHT hours to just do the BINDER!!! Front and back cover and both inside covers.

The theme is sort of odd I guess... The human body .... but its something that really wraps you up!

Thank you ingrid for another fantastic class!

Dinner at Carmine's

We went to eat at an Italian restaurant tonight in Manhattan called Carmine's.

The company was obviously wonderful but the food????? That was just amazing!

Spicy linguini with shrimp, calamari and crab! Just looking at this picture makes my mouth water!!

Meatballs (again spicy) made with veal, pork and meat. And I dont even LIKE meatballs but these will knock your socks off!

Something called brocolli rob... Didnt like it - very bitter.
AND

Fresh made canolli (is that how you spell it?) with pistachios. So damned good !!
Yep - gotta love this town! Yesterday thai food... Today Italian... Gotta admit I dont miss the Cuban food!

Through The Rabbit Hole

Took a class with Ingrid Dijkers today in Manhattan. We were fortunate enough to have her teach at Keys 4 Art last year and I really love Ingrid. She is a fabulous artist and a fantastic person.

When she taught at our retreat we asked her to teach her Over the Edge class and everyone loved it but I had always wanted to learn the technique for her Through the Rabbit Hole journal. I was not disappointed.

This is only the first steps of the journal and most of the work is still to be done but I love it!!

These pictures were taken with my phone so you really cant define how great this journal is but each different colored circle is a different page - thus the concept of Through the Rabbit Hole.

I will post more pictures as I work on it so you can see the progress.

Tomorrow we have another class with a totally different journal!

They are growing up too fast!

These girls are just growing up so fast.  Kaitlynn started "real kindergarten" yesterday.  She did kindergarten in private school but she is only five and Kristina decided she should do "real" kindergarten in public school.  I can't believe it.  I HATE the idea of this little girl being in a big public school!!  Doesn't she look excited though?? She LOVES it! Says her teacher is "awesome", the school is "awesome", her new friends are "awesome".... well you get the picture!

Her first cafeteria breakfast!!!

Doesn't she look too little to be there????  Or is it just me?
Savannah started her first day in day care.

Ms. Maddeline started Little College last Monday.  It's been a whole week and she has not been kicked out of school so I guess she is doing well!

These girls are my world.

NEW YORK HERE I COME!!

Tomorrow I am going to New York!!!  I have only been there for 2 days previously and am so excited about going!  The best part is that I am going to be staying with my pal Eileen and will be hanging out with Teri and Pat!!!  Just doesn't get any better than that!!  GIRL TIME!!!  Woo HOOOOOOOO!!

We will be taking two classes with Ingrid Dijkers.  I love Ingrid.  She taught at our Keys for Art Retreat last year and she was just wonderful.  She is creative and DIFFERENT which is why I enjoy her work so much.

But let's face it.... I am excited about Ingrid but so much more excited about hanging out with my friends!!  I was telling them that this is the first time in my life I take a trip by myself for pleasure.  I travel frequently but with my family; when I do travel alone its for work.

My father never let me sleep outside my home so no slumber parties for me growing up!  I was married at 17 had children by 19 and WHOOOOOFFFFF!  I'm 51!!!!

As I told the girls today, I feel like a kid going on my first slumber party!!!

Lindy's Stamp Gang

The other day I was all excited about receiving the sprays from Lindys Stamp Gang but I had not used them until today.

They are all they are hyped up to be. The colors are gorgeous and no matter jow many you spray on your paper they do not muddy.

I have two evolution journals I am working on (a RR group) and decided I would use it on this one journal.

The stamp is by DYLUSIONS and one of my favorites.

The layout is two pages, one shorter than the other.

Left side.

Right side.

Both pages side by side.

Now..... What to do.. What to do?

CHUNKY ATC FOR VIC!

As you know, I signed up for another chunky atc swap on the Wendy Vecchi online group. My partner is Vic and after asking her, I find out her favorite colors are aqua/teal and purple. She told me she would love something steampunk so I set out to make her something she would like. I started with a gessoed piece of wood and painted it in the two colors she wanted with the Lumier paints which look so gorgeous on wood. I also put some of the Ranger clear distress crackle paint on some of the atc.

This is one of my many "favorite" art parts but I think it's perfect for steampunk.

I have three sides done so far. The front has the art part with some stones, gears and steampunk images in the background.

The back side has the ruler-shelf I love so much. It has some wonderful chains, a charlotte head, a brass rose, a brass sign that says "kiss" and a mini bottle with some beautiful teal colored micro beads.

One of the sides has a faucet painted with the ranger patina paints, a really pretty brass chain is hanging on the faucet and I have hung some cute charms on it.

The top of the chunk is almost done. I put some really cool gears on the top and some micro-beads. It still needs "something" but I'm not quite sure what.

So now I have this one side left.

So what do you think?????

The Magical Powders are stunning! Cant wait to use them.

New stamps!

I have wanted these stamps for awhile but I could only find them in Australia and the shipping was twice the cost of the stamps!

I finally remembered to look for them again and bought them from a very nice lady at Love Rubberstamps out of Iowa.

And they are HERE ! They are by Jane Davenport and the possibilities are ENDLESS!

Gloria's Chunky ATC

I am part of a wonderful online group called KINDRED SOULS. The cigar box I did recently was for a swap in that group.
Now another first for me.... A chunky ATC. I had never done one before and always thought they were really cute. After a few false starts I actually did one I love and think Gloria, my partner, will too.
Okay, so you start with a piece of wood (a 2x4 cut into 2 1/2 inch pieces). The chunky atc has the same measurements as an atc but obviously with more dimension.

Gloria had told me she loves vintage. I had not done vintage in so long it actually was a fun idea. I first covered the block in gesso. I cover it in tissue paper and pieces of cheese cloth to create texture because I had originally thought of painting it.

After sleeping on it for a day I changed my mind and decided to use some beautiful prima paper I had.
I always buy entire sets so I had the flowers that go along with this paper and added those too.

I added a knob and charms to one side of the block.

And added flowers cascading from the top to the other side of the block.

I put it away for the night and started to think about image(s) I wanted to add. No clue. I wanted something vintage looking but wanted it to be something "different" than just an image glued on to the block. Enter Wendy and her wonderful Art Parts! Love these things! I used one of my favorite vintage images and put it on the front of the block.

I had added some gold micro beads to block - a little on both sides. After doing it though I thought it looked flat. So I added some of the teal micro-beads and got the look I wanted.

I added some teal micro beads to the side and, finally did the back using one of the ideology clocks (since the paper had a clock on it), and a pen nib. When I added the piece of ruler I realized it made a great shelf so I added the two little bottles. I put teal micro beads in one and gold micro-beads in the other and really like the way it looks.

Finally, I added two little butterflies to the flowers.

So Gloria I hope you like it!!! It was made with lots of love.
